Tasting Club of Cognac and Charentais Spirits

Located in Grande Champagne, in the commune of Bourg-Charente, between Cognac and Jarnac, Patrick and Nadine Pautier, winegrowers, producers and distillers, produce Pineau des Charentes and Émous'tillant (carbonated grape juice). Their products accompany Denis Fougère's conference on the theme: LE PINEAU DES CHARENTES.
Legend of the origin of Pineau des Charentes
In 1589, when Henri IV acceded to the throne of France, a Charente winegrower, during the harvest, inadvertently poured grape must into a barrel that contained Cognac brandy. He then put the cask in the cellar of the estate. A few years later, during an abundant harvest, the precious barrel became necessary. He was then surprised to discover a wonderful beverage, as clear and sunny as the land of the Charentes. The Pineau des Charentes was born.
